Depart in the morning
for Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace and a city that is thought to be the
most beautiful in the Tyrol. Salzburg is dominated by the majestic cliffs that
rise above the river Salzach and are topped by the great fortress Hohensalzburg.
Tour St. Peter's
Cathedral, the great Renaissance church with its 350 foot nave, commissioned
by Archbishop Marcus Sittcus from court architect Santino Solari. Shopping in
the Alter Markt, the city's original medieval market street, and along
the Getreidegasse, which now contains some of Salzburg's finest shops adorned
with wrought-iron signs.
Visit the Mozart
Birthplace, a typical old Salzburg burgher's house where he was born on
January 27, 1756. Next we will visit Mozart's residence and living
quarters where he lived from 1773 until 1780. A museum was installed on the
first floor of the former living quarters, documenting the history of the
building and the life of the Mozart Family.
Attend a private
Mozart concert at the Schloss Leopoldskron, an 18th
century palace on a lake where Mozart and his father both played.
